My Favorite Martians: Tripods, Part 2

Now that the Tripods are done (no painting necessary and just dipped them in Army Painter Dark). The scenario calls for civilians and cars. So after some diligent searching I found them all on EBay. 

Plastic pre-painted people are from EBay. Giant bugs in the back under
the Tripods were an earlier acquisition so I don't know the manufacturer.
Bases are from Gale Force Nine, however.

These civilian cars are to scale w/6mm and got these from EBay as well.
Still needs some painting but they're good to go.

More Proxying Fun: Ars Victor with MechWarrior Minis, Part 1

Late last year I picked up Ars Victor and immediately saw the potential for more Hybrid Gaming: the unholy union of a boardgame with miniatures!

There was plenty of info and buzz surrounding this game so I had to give it a try

All set to play. Got the plexi to keep things flat and grabbed
whatever mini I had to proxy with and on we go...

This 15mm figure is a recent acquisition from the last gaming
convention I attended. Again, I don't know the manufacturer.
It was cool looking, cheap and prepainted - what's not to like?

MechWarrior clix (10mm) removed from bases will be perfect
for proxying these Heavy Infantry Units

PicoArmor Industrial and Factory Buildings, Part 2

Victorian Factories, English Farm Buildings and Railroad Yards Buildings from Brigade Models line from the PicoArmor site. These are to be used for an upcoming Stalingrad scenario in the Memoir 44 game system.

My Favorite Martians: Tripods, Part 1

EUREKA! Literally. After a long search for just the right mini to represent a Martian Tripod for use on a conversion of a fan generated special scenario for LnL's World at War Board game series, "To Save a Life", I found these super cool tripods from EUREKA Games.


As I've mentioned in my past blog posts, I've been a loyal fan of LNL Publishing (which has just changed ownership) and Mark L. Walker's game systems: World at War (WaW) and Nations at War (NaW) series and the Lock n Load system for infantry platoons. 

I've been dying to try out this Mars vs Earth (circa mid-1980s) using my micro armor on a Hexon terrain table. Imagine period Warsaw Pact and NATO armor and armament duking it out with the aliens from the Red planet. Earth forces, check. Civilians, check. Civilian cars, check. All that I was lacking were the tripods. And here they be, by golly!

Happy New Year! Looking forward to another year of geeking out with miniature gaming.

OK, Let's get on with it shall we?

On a nice Sunday morning, I laid out some terrain in preparation for some wacky gaming...

A peaceful and pastoral village, an amalgamation of scratch built 
cottages, sheds, haystacks, hills and store bought prepainted building 
from Pegasus as well as pre-flocked and painted hill from War Torn Worlds

Lots of terrain to take cover in with a good view of the prepainted 
cottage and wooden fences from Pegasus in the foreground, 
the plowed fields were carpet samples

Kegs and barrels were unpainted from Hobby Lobby (or any craft store)
while the crates and chests were prepainted from War Torn Worlds

From Black Scorpion line, I took a collection of Pirates Rogues and Privateers line, these are one of the best sculpts around IMHO.. 

I have 6 done and 13 more to go.

Scale Differences: Time Cast vs GHQ, Part 2

Russian Orthodox Churches are very interesting structures that lend a regional flavor to any Eastern Front table top battle field. Other 6mm manufacturers have this particular building type in their inventory but Timecast has one of the best that I've seen, IMHO.

Authentic wooden Russian Orthodox Church 

GHQ's Russian Orthodox Church from their online catalog - nothing wrong with this excellent model except that most of my battles in the Eastern Front are in rural areas and this particular model seems to fit in a more urban setting.
