Out of Storage Part 2: Steppe-ing out

I brought out more of my 28mm miniatures and next thing I know, I'm having a session with my iPhone.  I got out my 2x2 Mini-Terrain Table with clouded skyline backdrop and started snapping.

Little Katy aka KATYUSHA Part 2

Here's another attempt at finishing this model...

Not this model... She doesn't need finishing...

Clearly the most difficult part of this model: rocket launcher frame.
Here's a tip: use tacky putty to figure out how all these pieces fit
since this model came without instructions.

Great detail on the parts.

The cab assembly was frustrating with lots of needed sanding to make the pieces fit.

Numerous tries to get the sub-assemblies to fit together.

The completed cab with un-fill-able gaps.

The gaps very evident here.

I haven't given up and will continue to soldier through... This Katy is one tough bitch! And like most females, she's frustrating to figure out although I know that the outcome will be beautiful.

WIP: Soviet and German Armored Cars, Part 4: BA-6 and BA-64 Soviets DONE

Back to my current favorite flavor of the month: WW2 skirmishing with Bolt Action. That means completing my Soviet Armored Cars for recon operations.

Little Katy aka KATYUSHA Part 1

Continuing my love affair with Soviet WW2 materiel, I'm finally getting around to completing (rather, starting) a piece of ordinance that's cost effective (read cheap) but devastating on the field thus giving the Soviets more bang for their ruble.

Tovarish Katyusha
Any chance I get to have a pretty girl populating my blog I will take.

One of my favorites, the BM-21 multiple rocket launcher affectionately known by its crews as Katyusha (little Katy) was quite the effective rocket artillery piece for the Soviets. The Germans being on the receiving end of such demoralizing and devastating saturation bombardments dubbed it Stalin's Organ (Stalinorgel in German). Obviously not a term of endearment.

For the Soviet's, it fulfilled their criteria of cheap to build and devastatingly shocking weapons platform. What's not to like?

What's in the box? Lots of bits but alas, no instructions...

Trial and error sub-assembly and yes that is a bent rocket rail

Half way done
