15mm Buildings, Terrain, etc.

As a slight departure from the 28mm scale in my gaming collection I'm taking a break decided to take out my WW2 15mm buildings, terrain and accessories for some needed photo ops and posing.

I prefer the Eastern Front so most of my buildings belong in that theater.

Gale Force Nine - one of the first boxed sets that Battlefront / FoW partenered with and is well worth it.
JR Miniatures Russian Cottages (great pre-painted models but why oh why are they solid?)
Miniature Building Authority's Eastern Front Farm Buildings

The removal rooves are a must for any wargame system.

Miniature Building Authority's Industrial Buildings
Miscellaneous Ruins, Bridge and kit bashed and weathered plastic model Church (N Scale). It's large enough to fit a medium FoW stand inside. I know, this model's more appropriate for Western Europe but hey, it's all useable.
Miniature Building Authority's Power Plant - a must for the Eastern Front!

Kato Uni-track (HO Scale) sections w/a weak attempt at flocking makes for real quick and easy rail yard terrain. Throw in a couple of generic, period boxcars and voila!

Completed Incursion 3D Board - at OwlCon 2011

Done. Finito. Complete. Whew!

Come in and Enter...

This 24" x 30" board represents the first half of the gaming board used for Scenarios 1-4 in the rule book.

It took some effort and time adding extra industrial detailing like rusted pipes, fittings, etc. but was well worth it to simulate more realism aside from being fun.

Still proxying with AT-43 figures to represent Allies while Zombies and Werewolf are from HorrorClix collection.

All signage, propaganda posters and graphics were simply printed on bond and white glued on wall surface. Design courtesy of Martin at Little Soldiers from the Incursion Forum.

Now it's time to get started on the actual minis...

OwlCon At Last!

OwlCon 2011 was just this weekend held at Houston's Rice University with a great turnout. Miniature events were held in one of two rooms: Sammy's and the Great Hall. Both of my games were in Sammy's. Luckily there were no LARPers about (they were in another section)!
Sammy's

I hosted two events. The first was my standard WWII skirmish game using Flying Lead rules by Ganesha Games set in Stalingrad with Soviets vs Germans on a 4'x4' table.
Prior to hostilities and post setup.

Next up: my highly anticipated, brand new Incursion 3d Board.

Incursion 3D Board - Actual Progress, PART 3

I really feel like Sisyphus faced with this daunting task.
Agghhhhh!  The clock's ticking and there ain't no slowing down... With less than a week to go here's what I've completed so far. Now if I can only stay focused and on track, I might just pull it off...

To simulate a lot of industrial detail I use just about anything laying around.  The two motors above the fluorescent starters are actual models acquired from my FLGS.

Another pipe coupling, valve or engine model from my FLGS.

More fluorescent starters that'll paint up really nice and unrecognizable (I hope).

Additional foam bits to enhance my recycled rock walls.

Straws at this scale make perfect pipes.

Beautifully crafted lab doors from Fenris is a great addtion to this board.  These babies are still a ways off from completion. They'll be framed complete with a diamond plate threshold.

Weathering is definitely one of my favorite detailing steps.

I went back and forth on how I'd paint the glass portholes. I've seen some great painting ideas but came to the conclusion that in this dank and damp air of the subterranean levels of Gibraltar aka The Rock multiple layers of grime, slime and what have you that would obscure these vision panels.
Coming soon: Game day and showtime at Owlcon...
